Summary:
Seven 2x2m test pits hand-dug within the area of the proposed development. TP2 and TP7 were within the Scheduled Monument Area for which consent to undertake groundworks was sought and granted. An almost complete cooking pot vessel and large pottery fragments were uncovered as well as deposits indicative of the presence of the western Roman rampart that enclosed Corinium.
