Cotswold Archaeology is a registered Charity and limited Company, established in 1989. We exist to increase public awareness and appreciation of the past, which we achieve by creating and communicating knowledge so that it can be valued and enjoyed by present and future generations.
We are a leading supplier of professional heritage services in the UK and operate in a competitive market. We have a professional staff of over 300 across our four offices in Cirencester, Andover, Milton Keynes and Suffolk.
Role Overview
The role of Trustee is to work with us to further the vision, purpose, charitable objectives and values of Cotswold Archaeology.
Our Board normally meets twice a year, plus an Annual General Meeting. Our two sub-committees (Archaeology and Public Engagement and Finance, People and Culture) each meet on a further two occasions. The successful candidates will be expected to join one of the sub-committees. A total time commitment of up to eight days per annum is to be expected.
The Cotswold Archaeology Trustee position is a voluntary one, although all reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
We are now looking to recruit new Trustees, ideally with backgrounds in one of Corporate Finance; Digital Transformation; Planning, Development or Construction; Heritage, or Field Archaeology. This is not an exclusive list, however, and candidates with other relevant skills are encouraged to apply. Detailed prior knowledge of archaeology is not necessarily required although an interest in the past is a must.
The successful candidate will join us at an exciting time as our current five-year strategy expires in 2025 and this year our Board will adopt a new plan to guide our activities through until 2030.
