Discover more about the archaeology in Wiltshire

This conference gathers archaeologists working in Wiltshire to present their latest work. Cotswold Archaeology will be attending with Sam Wilson giving a talk on the excavations at Showell Nurseries, Chippenham.

Cotswold Archaeology’s excavations at Showell Nurseries in 2025 revealed small elements of a long-lived ritual landscape, with Neolithic pits containing Grooved Ware pottery followed by the construction of a concentric-ditched Early Bronze Age barrow and associated burials. The barrow was re-established at least once, along with ongoing cremation burial activity and was accompanied by the construction of multiple smaller ring ditches of secondary barrows.
