As part of a residential development to the east of Lydney, Cotswold Archaeology carried out two phases of excavation in 2016 and 2018. The excavation revealed a landscape of Prehistoric, Roman, medieval and post-medieval occupation, agriculture and metal-working industry. Well-preserved structures were recorded, including a Roman dwelling and agricultural buildings, a medieval manorial complex and ancillary structures and post-medieval farm buildings, showing the area’s remarkable continuation of use spanning thousands of years.
