Celebrating 10 years of Cotswold Archaeology at Andover

In 2012, a year after opening our second office in Milton Keynes, we took the bold step of expanding the business further by opening a third office, this time in Andover, Hampshire, to better serve our clients in the south of England.

Our Andover team started small but quickly outgrew its start-up Basepoint office and a couple of moves later we arrived at our present home, Stanley House on Walworth Road, in 2013. The team has continued to grow and now our Andover office is the place of work for around 50 field archaeologists, heritage consultants and post-excavation specialists.

It hasn’t all been plain sailing – along with the rest of the business, the Andover office has had to weather the ups and downs of working with a sometimes-volatile construction industry, and of course more recently the global pandemic, but thanks to the hard work and dedication of our Andover staff it remains a thriving part of the company.

To celebrate our 10 years at Andover, and to thank our Andover customers and suppliers for working with us over that time, over the next couple of months we will be sharing ten highlights from our first ten years at Andover, including the amazing Bronze Age barrow cemetery at Picket Twenty, less than a mile to the south-east of Stanley House; the astonishing medieval punishment cemetery at Weyhill Road, on the other side of Andover; and the fantastic Roman mosaic at Boxford in Berkshire, a brilliant discovery arising from one of our community projects.
