This iron axe head is of late medieval or post-medieval date.

It was found in a saw pit in Canaston Woods, a modern plantation which has medieval origins.

Recording within the woods uncovered numerous remains relating to woodland management and the use of the resulting products, including numerous charcoal platforms, where managed timber was turned into charcoal.
