Beaker
description
This is a small and complete ovoid Beaker which was recovered from a Beaker grave, dating to between 2250-2100 BC.
Due to the acidic soil no bone survived, but the presence of Beaker pots in the graves from this site indicates that they were indeed burials. There was also thick organic staining around the base of the graves suggesting the presence of large wooden coffins.
The vessel is All Over Comb decorated with multiple horizontal lines of rectangular toothed comb impressions. These have been carelessly executed with little attempt to join the comb impressions and with numerous overlaps clearly visible, particularly on the lower part of the vessel.
