Pottery lamps
description
Fragments of two lamps, Lyon ware (high-quality pottery made around Lyon in France).
The most complete example (left) features moulded decoration in the form of a reclining female figure to its discus.
The design to a second example (right) probably shows a running horse-like animal with the wing-like projection suggestive of Pegasus. Lyon ware examples can be expected to be pre-Flavian (c. A.D. 43-69).
