Plate Brooch
description
This brooch is of a continental plate type, classified by Mackreth as a PL CONT 18.a. It has a pronounced central roundel with four oval projections which contain enamel.
Continental brooch types vary immensely in design and the workshops producing them seem to have been long lived. It is likely that this brooch was used to secure clothing in the mid 1st-2nd centuries at this site.
