Roman bell
description
The complete bell is of a type usually found at military sites and stratified examples from southern Britain come from levels dating before AD 75.
A bell with a similar lozengiform attachment loop was recovered from the nearby excavations at Kingsholm, Gloucester.
Bells like this one may have been attached to wagons, livestock or horse harnesses, although use in religious practice cannot be ruled out.
