Cotswold Archaeology is delighted to announce that its new regional office is now open in Milton Keynes. Located just 1.5 miles from Junction 14 of the M1, this new base complements our existing operation and will enable us to continue to provide a cost effective service to our clients regardless of their site location, as our work programme in the region has been steadily increasing (including recent major excavations in Northamptonshire and Suffolk, and large scale evaluations near Rugby).

The team will be headed up by Roland Smith (Regional Manager) and will deliver the same high quality standards and wide range of services as our Cirencester base.

Roland joined us in June; he is a seasoned and well respected archaeologist with considerable commercial experience, and will be responsible for driving our expansion plans and managing a team of talented individuals to ensure our clients receive the best possible advice, project management and customer service.

He will be ably assisted by Project Manager Simon Carlyle who has a wealth of local experience gained on both rural and urban projects, and specialises in the management of highly complex infrastructure expansion schemes. The remainder of our team comprises a healthy balance of existing staff being promoted and new job opportunities for local archaeologists.

The office already has a strong portfolio of projects including evaluations in Chatham, Milton Keynes, Newmarket and Peterborough; watching briefs in London and St Albans, and the recording of historic buildings and structures in Derbyshire, Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire.

Neil Holbrook, Chief Executive, commented “We are determined to maintain our position as one of the leading providers of archaeological services in the UK and, despite the difficult economic climate, our ambitious plans to expand and develop our capabilities remain firmly on track.

He added “We are proud of our continued success and look forward to cementing our reputation for excellent customer service and unrivalled service delivery with local clients.”
