The London Shipwreck Trust was launched earlier this month at Prittlewell Priory in Southend. The Trust has been formed to build upon, and take forward, the work of the Site Licensee, Steve Ellis, who has been diving on the wreck for over five years. The last three years has also seen an extensive programme of diving on the wreck undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology as part of an Historic England funded project. The wreck is designated and therefore protected under legislation.
The Cotswold team has worked very closely with Steve Ellis and we are delighted that the London Shipwreck Trust has been set up. The aim of the Trust is to attract funds for further research and with a long-term of aim of display of the fantastic finds, and maybe part of the wreck itself. The Cotswold Project Director, John Dillon, was delighted to attend the very well supported launch of the Trust.
