The contents and context of the Sizewell C coin hoard

In April 2023, Oxford Cotswold Archaeology discovered an 11th century coin hoard while excavating ahead of construction within the Sizewell C development footprint in Suffolk. The hoard, which had been wrapped first in textile and then enclosed in a layer of lead sheet, was micro-excavated in June 2024 and simultaneously filmed by Digging for Britain – where it made its public debut on the 7th of January 2025.
